Job Description:
D&M Owens Inc. is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Class A CDL Tandem Dump Truck Driver to support daily construction operations across various job sites. This role is essential to the productivity and efficiency of our crews, helping transport materials safely and reliably for site development and underground utility projects. The ideal candidate has strong driving skills, experience with dump trucks, and a commitment to high safety standards. Due to the nature of this position and the need for daily travel to multiple local job sites, we are seeking candidates who currently reside within a 30-minute commute of our service area. This position does not include relocation assistance.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a tandem axle dump truck to haul materials such as dirt, aggregate, sand, debris, and other construction materials to and from job sites.
- Load and unload materials safely, coordinating with operators and site crews to ensure proper placement.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections; document and report mechanical issues or maintenance needs immediately.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and basic upkeep of assigned truck.
- Follow all DOT regulations, safety protocols, and traffic laws.
- Manage delivery schedules and communicate with the Foreman, Superintendent, and Dispatch regarding load requirements and delays.
- Maintain accurate logs, tickets, and required documentation.
- Assist field crews during downtime, such as general labor tasks or equipment support, as needed.
- Operate equipment such as a loader or skid steer to load materials (preferred but not required).
Qualifications
- Valid Class A CDL with air brake endorsement and a clean driving record
- Minimum of two (2) years of hands-on experience operating a tandem dump truck or similar heavy equipment on active construction sites
- Working knowledge of safe loading, hauling, and dumping procedures
- Ability to safely maneuver in tight job sites and navigate unfamiliar routes
- Solid understanding of DOT regulations and safety standards
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs. and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
- Experience operating loaders or skid steers is a plus
Work Environment
- Outdoor construction sites in the New Braunfels and surrounding areas.
- Small, specialized crews require consistent communication and reliability.
- Fast-paced environment with daily route changes and varying material types.
Schedule & Pay
- Full-time, Monday–Friday (occasional Saturdays depending on workload).
- Competitive hourly pay based on experience.
